The post holder will play a key role in delivering Business Intelligence solutions within agreed specifications/parameters. You will lead and support in the implementation of new solutions including business analysis, system design, development, quality assurance and release management. The post holder will conduct all activities in accordance with relevant policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines. The post holder will link into other functions in the CSU and partner organisations, as required, to ensure delivery of Business Intelligence solutions. The post holder will be expected to work in a collaborative way as part of the BI development team as well as undertaking solo projects. The post holder will act as first point of contact for stakeholders involved in new developments.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
To operate as a key conduit between the MLCSU BI team, CSU Development teams and customer internal business units to facilitate the design and development of BI products and services
To capture and document concise technical and dataset information to support the design and development of BI products and services
To establish and develop key collaborative working relationships with customer, partner and data provider organisations
To liaise with key personnel both within the CSU and outside to establish data flows to inform new BI products and services
To liaise as appropriate to ensure that data flows within legal Information Governance guidelines
Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyse complex information needs
Responsible for securing and implementing Functional & Non Functional requirements (Business Requirements Document)
Play a key role in design of Graphical User Interface(s)
Play a key role in design of user facing BI reports
Pivotal responsibility for

Strong analytical and product management skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements
Collaborate with appropriate experts to establish the technical vision, requirements and analyse trade-offs between usability and performance needs
Present complex information to diverse groups
Develop requirements specifications, use cases, user stories, test cases and end to end system mapping according to the standards set by the organisation
Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously
Deploy project and programme management methodologies
Manage relationships with internal & external customers, ensuring business objectives are agreed and performance is tracked in order to manage and satisfy customer expectations
Key role in ensuring that the outputs to the customer have been validated and quality tested prior to publication
Take leading role in projects and research into the needs of a new product
To support the customer in the delivery of assigned work plan activities and work closely with customer Embedded staff to understand and better respond to customer requirements
Assist in the optimisation of existing systems
Proactive in suggesting improvements and amendments to existing systems
Validation and checking of processed data
Raising alerts regarding overdue datasets
Checking all reports have been fully updated before release
Assisting with development testing
Key Skills:
Extensive knowledge and skills gained within the BI arena, in particular working with information systems.
Experience of providing Business Analysis services.
Proven ability to gather user requirements by working with both technical and non-technical staff
Experience of gathering requirements for software and non- software products.
Experience of documentation of processes.
Experience of working in a collaborative environment.
Track record for ownership and completion of tasks and selfmanagement of parallel activities.
Experience of documenting data workflows and process maps to help align reporting.
Knowledge of Business Intelligence products and services with ability to re-align applications to services.
Knowledge and experience of the NHS.
Experience in an IM&T discipline.
Experience of dealing with sensitive information.
Educated to Degree level, higher education qualification or an equivalent level of experience in a related role.
Specialist qualification in an IM&T related area.
Project Management qualification (eg PRINCE2)
ECDL or MOST qualification or equivalent.

Analytical skills to be able to extract, analyse and present information.
Knowledge of tools and techniques to support effective programme management.

Travelling between different sites will be required. Post holder must be able to meet the mobility requirements of the post.
